With ideal access to Chicago via the South Shore Line, and a thriving downtown experience that's filled with local businesses to support, Michigan City is the recipient of much tourism. It's located along Lake Michigan and near the Indiana Dunes National Park. It has a strong arts community, which gives way to a handful of large-scale, outdoor events throughout the year. Michigan City also has a bus service and municipal airport that residents can utilize when needed. One of the more popular areas in Michigan City is Beatty's Corner, which is also near the Purdue North Central Campus. Other areas include Lake Shore Dr/Washington Park Boulevard, Franklin St, Orchard Highlands and near the city's downtown.
